On Saturday, June 27, Big Branch Marsh NWR took a moment to shine the spotlight on Cliff and Connie Glockner’s lifelong contributions to conservation during a ceremony at the popular Lake Road boat launch. For more than 25 years, the Glockner’s poured their energy into protecting Lake Pontchartrain and championed the effort that ultimately led to the refuge’s creation in 1994. They also played a leading role in launching the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation and were recognized with the National Wetlands Award for Volunteer Leadership in 1995. Their legacy continues today through their son, Ron, who serves as Vice President of the Friends of Louisiana Wildlife Refuges.
