Our Service Saturdays are a great way to earn service hours and meet other refuge volunteers. For this Service Saturday we will meet at the Jim Schmidt Boardwalk and Trailhead. It is National Trails Day!Â
MEETING LOCATION: Located off I-59 approximately 15 miles north of Slidell, LA. Take Exit 11/Pearl River Turnaround and follow the highway frontage road on the east side of I-59 south to the Bogue Chitto Refuge fishing pond entrance. We will meet at the entrance gate at 08:00 a.m. Lat/ Long: 30.448395,-89.704035
The service work for this refuge project will include getting ready for the upcoming Youth Fishing Rodeo at the fishing site. We will be removing vegetation from fishing areas along the pond shoreline and clearing the Jim Schmidt boardwalk and hiking trail. A great way to spend National Trails Day!
